Arsenal make ‘sensational request’ to Juventus for player-plus-cash transfer involving €50m ‘heir’

Arsenal-linked Vlahovic

Arsenal have reportedly made a ‘sensational request’ to Serie A side Juventus over a cash-plus-player deal during the January transfer window.

The Gunners and Juventus have regularly butted heads in the transfer market over the past few months.

Arsenal were heavily linked with Arthur Melo last January but they could not get the deal done.

The Brazilian midfielder instead joined Liverpool on loan in the summer but his time at Anfield has been hampered by injury.

The Londoners also plotted a move for Dusan Vlahovic during the previous winter transfer window.

Vlahovic made his name at Fiorentina and Juventus were able to beat Arsenal to the signing.

The striker has been in the goals for Juventus but he is already being linked with a move elsewhere.

This comes after Juventus failed to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League and amid an ongoing investigation into claims that they have broken UEFA’s financial fair play rules.

Juventus are going through a difficult time but they are still looking at Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes as a potential addition.

Italian outlet Calciomercato are reporting that Gabriel is the ideal ‘heir’ to former defender Giorgio Chiellini.

It is noted that the Gunners defender has ‘exploded to the highest level’ over the past two seasons.

The Serie A side face an ‘obstacle’ in the battle to sign Gabriel as a bid of ‘at least €50m’ is needed to take him from Arsenal.

Gabriel would be an ‘ideal profile’ for Juventus and they may need to consider a player-plus-cash deal to secure his services.

The report claims that €40m and Arthur for Gabriel may be proposed but ‘it is unlikely’ that Arsenal ‘would accept him as a counterpart for the defender’.

Arsenal may instead make a ‘sensational request’ which would see them ask for Vlahovic in an ‘exchange’ for Gabriel.

Separate from this report, Fabrizio Romano has suggested that signing Vlahovic ‘is always a good idea’.

‘Dusan Vlahovic speculation goes on. I’m told there are no contacts with Arsenal as things stand, then let’s see in January but it’s quiet now,’ Romano wrote for Caught Offside.

‘Vlahovic is focused on recovering from his injury, this is a key point; he’s not 100% fit yet.

‘I think Vlahovic is always a good idea for top clubs but Juventus should not sell him after just 11 months.’

Manchester United are also being linked with Vlahovic as they look to sign a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.
