Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen are maintaining an interest in West Ham’s 30-year-old full back Vladimir Coufal as they consider a move next month.
The Hammers are looking to strengthen their squad in January following a disappointing start to the season which has seen them take just 14 points from a possible 45.
David Moyes’ side are languishing in 16th place in the Premier League as a result, despite spending £156million over the summer.
Lucas Paqueta, Gianluca Scamacca and Nayef Aguerd all arrived for big money, although the latter has only made four appearances after suffering a serious ankle injury during their pre-season friendly against Rangers.
