Arsenal given stern warning as club chief hints at staggering new asking price for Mykhaylo Mudryk

Arsenal told price for Mudryk

Shakhtar Donetsk director of football Darijo Srna has warned Arsenal that Mykhaylo Mudryk will cost a “big amount of money” in January.

Mudryk has enjoyed a breakout year in 2022 for Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk.

The winger has ten goals and eight assists in just 18 appearances across all competitions. This includes five goal contributions in six games in the Champions League group stages.

Arsenal are known to be admirers of Mudryk and one of their priorities heading into January is to sign a new winger.

They were unable to sign a new wide man in the summer despite them being linked with Yeremi Pino and Pedro Neto.

Mikel Arteta appears to have grand plans for Mudryk. Ben Jacobs reported earlier this month that the head coach feels that the 21-year-old can become a “more versatile player”.

“Arteta feels that he can be developed into a more versatile player,” Jacobs told GiveMeSport.

“At the moment he’s lightning quick, he’s got a good eye for goal, he weighs in with assists, he makes the pitch as big as possible, he starts on the left-hand side and he cuts in.

“I think Mikel Arteta thinks that he can spend more time during games in central areas and, even under select game management situations, switch sides as well.

“As he adds those strings to his bow, he could live up to his reputation as one of the best players in that position.

“So, it’s one to watch from Arsenal’s point of view.”

Mudryk is under contract until 2026 and teams must spend big if they want to sign Mudryk in the coming months.

It was recently claimed that his price tag had plummeted to £40m. But this does not appear to be the case as Srna has hinted that Mudryk will cost “more than £100m”.

Srna believes Mudryk is at the same level as Man City star Jack Grealish, who was bought from Aston Villa for £100m last year.

“Who wants to sign Mudryk has to pay a big amount of money — otherwise our president will not sell him,” Srna told Marca (as reported by Fabrizio Romano).

“Jack Grealish was sold for more than 100m and Mudryk’s level is not lower.”

Mudryk has admitted that it is a “dream” of his to play for a “top club”.

“When I found out about my price, I wasn’t just surprised – I was shocked,” Mudryk admitted.

“I have a long-term contract with Shakhtar, I give all my strength and energy so that Shakhtar achieves maximum results… but every football player has a dream to play in a top club and in a top championship – I…
