Aurelien Tchouameni says the English press are talking “bullsh*t” over claims Hugo Lloris is France’s “weak point” in the build-up to their victory over England in the World Cup quarter-finals.

Four years on from lifting the trophy in Moscow, Les Bleus set up a shot at a second straight final against surprise package Morocco on Wednesday evening.

France secured their return to Al Bayt Stadium for the semi-final after Harry Kane scored one penalty and missed another in a 2-1 victory against Gareth Southgate’s side.

Tchouameni’s excellent strike was cancelled out by the England skipper, before Giroud scored his 53rd international goal and Kane blasted a late spot-kick over.

Lloris was called into action on a number of occasions to deny England and seemed to win the psychological battle over Tottenham team-mate Kane when the Three Lions striker blazed his second penalty over the bar.

On France’s display against England, he added: “We need to continue like this, and keep measuring up to the competition.

“We feel little by little that there is a real group forming here. We suffered, but this is the World Cup. We played a very, very good English side that caused us problems.

“Aside from that, we were able to hang tough, score towards the end and progress.”

On asked whether France can retain the World Cup, Tchouameni continued: “We need to win the next game first, prepare well for this great Morocco team, and then we can think about that.”

Lloris said he would “share this moment of pain” with Kane after his Tottenham team-mate missed his second penalty chance.

He said: “I want to be honest with you, with all the emotions, it’s a big match, it was a key moment.

“The man that I am have to be honest, we are team-mates, I respect him a lot. Kane took the responsibility at a key moment in the…
