Johnson Named MAC Hermann Semifinalist

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Syracuse men’s soccer senior forward Levonte Johnson is a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy, the highest individual honor in collegiate soccer. Johnson is the first Orange to earn semifinalist honors since defender and first-round MLS SuperDraft pick Miles Robinson in 2016.

A native of Brampton, Ontario, Johnson arrived at Syracuse via the transfer portal, committing to the Orange after playing his junior season at Seattle U. During his time on the west coast, Johnson recorded 26 points, scored nine goals, and tallied eight assists. He led the Redhawks in all major scoring categories, earning 2021 All-Far West First Team honors from the United Soccer coaches.

At Syracuse, Johnson has solidified himself as one of the premier attacking prospects in NCAA. Johnson leads Syracuse in points with 26, goals with 10, and is tied for the team lead in assists with six. The veteran forward is the first Syracuse student-athlete to hit double figures in goals since Ryan Raposo in 2019.

Along with his MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist honors, Johnson has also picked up other individual accolades. Johnson earned All-ACC First Team honors and All-South Region First Team honors. He was also named the ACC Offensive Player of

the Week after scoring the match-winning goal against Clemson in September. Johnson leads the nation in match-winning goals with seven.

No Syracuse player has ever won the Hermann Trophy. Goalkeeper Alex Bono came the closest in 2014 as a finalist.

Johnson looks to lead Syracuse to its first ever NCAA National Championship appearance, as Syracuse plays Creighton in the NCAA College Cup Semifinal on Friday at 6 p.m. in Cary, N.C.
