Garvanian Selected To United Soccer Coaches All-South Region Team

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – University of North Carolina men’s soccer player Milo Garvanian has been named to the United Soccer Coaches All-South Region Third Team, as announced by the organization Tuesday. This is the first such honor of his career.

A midfielder/defender, Garvanian led Carolina in several categories during the 2022 campaign. He was tied for first on the roster in both goals (4) and assists (4), which included two game-winning goals and two game-winning assists. He was also the outright team leader in points (12) and shots on goal (13).

The fifth-year’s team-leading 12 points on the season marked his new single-season best, bringing his career total to 32. He ranked third on the team with 1,672 minutes and was one of five Tar Heels to start all 19 contests.

On the defensive end, the Albuquerque, New Mexico native helped limit opponents to an average of 6.3 shots per game for the lowest among Atlantic Coast Conference teams. He was part of UNC’s back line that held VCU shotless until the 89th minute, the longest streak for holding an opponent without a shot in the ACC all season.

Garvanian earned All-ACC Second Team honors for his efforts, the first league accolade of his career. He was also tabbed to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week on Aug. 29 and landed on Top Drawer Soccer’s Division I Midseason Top 100 Watch List.
