Diodati Garners CSC Women’s Soccer Academic All-America Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Michigan State women’s soccer graduate defender Ruby Diodati took home College Sports Communicators First Team Academic All-America honors, the organization announced Tuesday.

Formerly known as CoSIDA, CSC seeks to honor student-athletes who represent the highest caliber of academic and athletic achievement through the annual Academic All-District and All-America accolades. Diodati became the third Spartan to receive the accolade all-time and became the second MSU women’s soccer player to land a place on the prestigious first team. She joined Michigan State Athletics Hall-of-Famer Laura (Heyboer) Heethuis, who garnered first team accolades in 2011, and Gabrielle Gauruder, who was a third-team honoree in 20

A graduate transfer from Mendon, Massachusetts, Diodati earned her first-ever CSC Academic All-America award after garnering All-District honors last month. Pursuing her Master of Science in Global Health through the MSU Global Health Studies Program, she boasts an impressive graduate GPA of 3.92. At Colgate, Diodati earned a placement on the Raider Academic Honor Roll in 2019, and helped lead the way as her former institution’s primary defensive effort on the back line.

Since transferring to Michigan State, Diodati has cemented herself as one of the most decorated individual athletes in school history. After leading the Big Ten in assists through the regular season and pacing the most dominant defense in the Big Ten Conference in terms of goals-against average, Diodati became the first player in school history to earn the Big Ten Defender of the Year award. She also stood out as an All-Big Ten First Team selection after finishing with 10 points split between a penalty kick goal and eight assists.
