Sofia Cook Named UCLA Student-Athlete of Week, Presented by Ready


Freshman midfielder Sofia Cook of the UCLA women’s soccer team has been selected the UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Ready, for Nov. 22-27.


Cook scored the game-winning goal in the 98th minute to lead the Bruins to a 2-1 overtime victory over No. 3 Virginia in the NCAA quarterfinal. With the win, UCLA punched its ticket to the College Cup for the 12th time in school history and third time in the last six years. The Bruins will face Alabama in the national semifinals on Friday, Dec. 2. Cook’s goal was her seventh this season, and she is now tied for third on the team in goals scored and ranks fourth in scoring with 18 points.


This is Cook’s first UCLA student-athlete of the week award of the season and of her career.
