Cooper Tabbed to TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week

DURHAM – Following her school-record seventh brace of the season at Alabama, Duke women’s soccer standout Michelle Cooper earned yet another TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week accolade on Tuesday.

It marked the sixth time this season Cooper earned TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week honors on the year.

A native of Clarkston, Mich., Cooper registered a brace in a span of less than four minutes in the second half to even the score against the Crimson Tide in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals.  She made her first shot attempt of the evening count as she received a pass from Delaney Graham on the right side of the box and used her right foot to beat the Alabama goalkeeper to the far post to cut the lead to 2-1.

Then in the 79th minute, Elle Piper found Cooper wide open in front of the net where she volleyed in her school-record 19th goal to even the match, 2-2. Duke would eventually fall, 3-2, in double-overtime to conclude the season.

Cooper turned in one of the best individual seasons in school history with a school-records in points (49) and goals (19), while notching a team-best 11 assists.
