Rangers set to finalise managerial appointment

Rangers are close to confirming Michael Beale as their new boss, sources have confirmed to 90min.

90min revealed earlier this week that Beale had emerged as the first choice of the Scottish giants to replace Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who was sacked days before.

Rangers considered their options, but they moved for Beale – someone who they know very well – given his previous spell at Ibrox.

Beale spent three years with Rangers as assistant to Steven Gerrard, where he followed the former Liverpool midfielder to Aston Villa last year.

Beale himself left Villa this summer when he moved into management by taking charge of Championship side Queens Park Rangers.

But now he is set to leave Loftus Road, having already rejected the chance to take charge of Wolves a matter of weeks ago, and move back to Glasgow – this team to take charge.

90min is told that terms are already agreed in principle and it was only an agreement between the two clubs that needed to be finalised, but sources believe the appointment will be confirmed early next week.
