2022 World Cup goalkeeper power rankings: Matchday 2

Keylor Navas

To have a good World Cup campaign, you need to have a good goalkeeper, and plenty are impressing between the sticks in Qatar.

Here are our top 10 stoppers after the first two rounds of group stage fixtures.

Navas turned back the clock against Japan, reminding us all of his World Cup heroics in 2014 with some top saves.

He only comes in at the bottom of this list though as he conceded a modest seven in his first match.

Shuichi Gonda

After a stunning performance against Germany, Gonda plummets down our order as he should have done a lot better for the goal that lost his nation the match against Costa Rica.

Guillermo Ochoa

Ochoa followed up a strong performance against Poland with a less impressive one against Argentina, failing to make a single save. To be fair to him though, both goals were excellent strikes.

Matt Turner

He hasn’t been spectacular, but Turner is quietly having a good tournament for the US. The Arsenal man made a few good saves to keep a clean sheet against England and was solid against Wales too.

Vanja Milinkovic-Savic

He may have conceded three, but Milinkovic-Savic also made five saves against Cameroon, three from close range, to ensure his team at least got a point.

Unai Simon

After a quiet day at the office against Costa Rica, Simon was called into action against Germany and did well, making a crucial save when one-on-one with Jamal Musiala as well as a few others.

Kasper Schmeichel

After making one of the saves of the tournament against Tunisia to earn Denmark a point, Schmeichel did his best to get them another against France, stopping four efforts.

Andries Noppert

After an excellent international debut on the biggest stage, Noppert made some more good saves against Ecuador and was unfortunate that the rebound was turned in from maybe the best of them.

Yann Sommer

After a Man of the Match performance against Cameroon, Sommer was good against Brazil too, doing everything he could to keep the game goalless for 83 minutes.
