Two Sign Soccer National Letter With Syracuse

Amanda Allen, a forward who recently played with Canada’s Senior Team, and Central Square standout Samantha Haley, a goalkeeper, have signed National Letters-of-Intent (NLI), according to Syracuse Coach Nicky Thrasher Adams.

Allen and Haley will each enroll at Syracuse for the 2023 season.

Amanda Allen | Forward | Mississauga, Ontario | Canada Soccer National Development Center

Allen has competed with Canada Soccer National Development Center, full-time women’s soccer development programs run by the Canadian Soccer Association. The Ontario team competes in League1. Allen joined up with the Canada Soccer Program in December 2021 after an invitation to camp with the Canada U-17 squad. She earned a spot on the roster for the 2022 Confederation of North, Central America and Carribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) U-17 Championship. Allen scored four goals, including one in Canada’s bronze-medal winning match with Puerto Rico, a 3-0 victory.

She also competed for Canada in the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) U-17 World Cup. Allen scored in a 1-1 draw with Tanzania. Allen joined the Canada senior team to participate in friendlies against Brazil in November 2022.

Samantha Haley | Goalkeeper | Central Square, N.Y. | Central Square HS

Club Team:

Haley produced a record-setting scholastic career with Central Square. It’s been capped with her selection to the Class A All-Section 3 team this year. Haley was named first team All-Salt City Athletic Conference (SCAC) in 2021 and 2022. She was a second-team all-league pick in 2020 and earned honorable mention conference recognition in 2018 and 2019.

Haley has been Central Square’s starting goalkeeper since 2018-19, her eighth-grade season. She accumulated 53 wins, a 1.30 goals-against average, 928 saves and a .895 save percentage in the five years. Haley had six shutouts in 2022 and helped Central Square to an 11-5-1 record. She was coached by Angelo Carroccio.

About Syracuse

Syracuse was 8-7-2 this past fall and doubled its win total from the 2021 campaign. The Orange compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), a league that had 10 teams earn berths into the 2022 NCAA Soccer Tournament. Coach Thrasher Adams expects to have eight of 11 primary starters back in 2023.
