COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State has advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament is ready to take on No. 3 seed Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark., on Friday night. The match will kick at 7:30 p.m. ET and it will be streamed live on ESPN+.

  • This is Ohio State’s 16th NCAA Tournament appearance and the seventh appearance in the last eight seasons. All 16 appearances have come under head coach Lori Walker-Hock who is in her 26th season with the program. If the Buckeyes get hot, she will claim her 300th career victory with a win in the national championship match.
  • The Buckeyes are 14-14-2 all-time in the NCAA Tournament and have reached the second round for the eighth time in program history.
  • Ohio State opened the tournament with a 1-0 victory over Patriot League champion Bucknell last Friday in Columbus.
  • Emma Sears netted the game-winner in the 107th minute, lacing a left-footed shot past the Bucknell keeper.
  • Sears leads the team with nine goals and five assists for a team-high 23 points. She is 13th in program history with 22 career goals. The nine goals this season are a career-high for the Dublin, Ohio native.
  • The win last Friday pushed the Buckeyes record in home NCAA Tournament matches to 8-3-2. Ohio State is 2-7-0 in true road NCAA Tournament matches with its last win being a 3-0 shutout at Tennessee in the opening round of the 2011 Tournament.
  • This will be just the second all-time meeting between Ohio State and Arkansas. The Buckeyes won 5-1 in Columbus on Halloween in 1998. No players on the current Ohio State roster where born when that meeting took place.
  • In the win over Bucknell, the Buckeyes allowed just eight total shots and freshman keeper Molly Pritchard made three saves on her way to her first solo shutout of the season. She has been part of nine total shutouts on the year.
  • The Buckeyes were fourth in the Big Ten during the regular season, marking the 10th time in program history that the Buckeyes have posted a Top 4 finish in conference play.
  • Arkansas is 12-3-4 overall on the season and 8-0-1 at home this season. The Razorbacks defeated Missouri State 6-0 in the opening round last Friday. Ava Tankersley…
