Orlando Pride promote Seb Hines to permanent head coach role

The Orlando Pride have promoted Seb Hines from the interim manager position to the permanent head coaching role, signing him to a multi-year contract.

Hines took over as interim manager amid the 2022 season, replacing Amanda Cromwell after she was suspended and placed under a league investigation for allegations of workplace misconduct. After serving as an assistant coach with the Pride, he stepped in to lead the 15 remaining matches of the campaign.

At the time of his appointment, Hines became the first Black head coach in the NWSL. And now, he makes history as the league’s first-ever Black full-time head coach.

“After evaluating what we want the future for the Pride to be, listening to player feedback and discussing with Seb, it became very clear that he has earned the opportunity to continue leading our Club,” said Pride chairman Mark Wilf.

The appointment of Seb Hines to a permanent role was one of many infrastructural changes by the team. The Pride also announced the team’s General Manager position will expand to become Vice President and General Manager of Soccer Operations, in order to commit more resources to player development, analytics, scouting and medical services.

The team also parted ways with former GM Ian Fleming, and terminated the contracts of Cromwell and assistant coach Sam Greene earlier.

More changes are expected to be made by the Pride during the offseason.
