NEED TO KNOW

•    Second-seeded Duke will open the NCAA Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 12 as the second-seeded Blue Devils (12-4-3) will host Radford (12-3-4) at 7 p.m., at Koskinen Stadium.  

•    Saturday’s match will be aired live on ACC Network Extra with Jake Levy on the call.

•    Duke is making its 28th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and enter as a top-16 national seed for the seventh time out of the last eight seasons.  

•    It marks the first time in school history Duke has earned a No. 2 seed, after receiving a No. 1 seed three times and No. 3 seed on five occasions.

•    The Blue Devils will return home after playing five out of the last six matches on the road.  Duke owns a 6-3 ledger in Koskinen Stadium this season.  

•    In NCAA Tournament matches being played in Durham, N.C., the Blue Devils boast a 25-3-1 record. Duke has won 11 straight opening NCAA matches played in Durham, N.C.

•    In the latest NCAA RPI, Duke is seventh with its four losses coming to No. 1 Florida State, No. 3 UCLA, No. 5 North Carolina, No. 10 Virginia. The Blue Devils’ schedule is currently ranked the toughest nationally.

•    In 36 matches played at Duke, Michelle Cooper has tallied at least a goal or assist in 26 of those contests.

STORYLINES/OTHER BLUE DEVIL NOTES

•    Duke is 19-3-5 all-time in its opening match of the NCAA Championship, including a 14-1-4 mark in the first round since the tournament expanded to its current 64-team format in 2001.

•    The winner of Saturday’s first round match will face the winner of the Texas/Texas A&M contest on Friday, Nov. 18.

•    Duke features a 42-22-11 overall record in 27 appearances in the NCAA Tournament.  

•    The Blue Devils have won seven straight opening matches in the NCAA Tournament and has not dropped a match in the opening round since 2009 on the road.
