Man Utd know how to ‘tie down new jewel’ as Alejandro Garnacho ‘priority’ revealed

Man Utd know how to 'tie down new jewel' as Alejandro Garnacho 'priority' revealed

Manchester United know what they need to offer Alejandro Garnacho to ‘tie down their new jewel’ as the teenager’s ‘priority’ has been revealed.

Garnacho scored his first senior goal for United on Thursday to secure their 1-0 win over Real Sociedad.

According to AS (via Sport Witness), he is ‘the boy in fashion’ in the eyes of the United bosses who are moving to extend his current deal which expires in the summer of 2025.

Negotiations are said to have been opened a couple of weeks ago, and with the Red Devils considering Garnacho to be ‘one of the great sensations’ at the club, they will be keen to secure his future with other suitors sniffing around.

The report claims the 18-year-old ‘prioritises playing’ above all else, so United may need to give him assurances under Erik ten Hag to encourage him to commit to a new deal.

On Garnacho’s performance and goal against Real Sociedad, Ten Hag said: “We had problems there. Antony was out and Jadon Sancho was not available. I really hope he can keep the process going. He was a threat. If he can keep this going, I am really happy.

“It was a great finish, it was a great attack. It was really enjoyable.”

But there have been rumours of Garnacho’s attitude being a problem for Ten Hag, who took issue with him walking out of training with his boot laces untied.

And Bruno Fernandes highlighted the forward’s issues in pre-season after the game on Thursday.

“He was good but he knows we expect a lot from him,” Fernandes said.

“Obviously he’s still really young, he’s doing really well.

“At the beginning of the season he was not at his best. In the [pre-season] tour he didn’t have the best attitude that he should have, and that’s why he didn’t get his chances until now.

“He’s getting his chances because he’s training better, he’s got a different attitude and he’s deserving his chances.”
