Bayern Munich vs Inter - Champions League: Team news, predicted lineups & prediction

Bayern Munich and Inter meet for a Champions League dead rubber on Tuesday, although the Bundesliga side can make a serious statement by completing the group stage with a perfect record.

Both teams have already qualified for the knockout phase, consigning Barcelona to the Europa League in a year when many of the traditional big guns of the tournament have struggled for results.

That makes Bayern Munich’s five wins out of five all the more impressive, and they will be keen to lay down a marker before the knockout stage.

Current Form (Last Five Games)

Bayern Munich team news

Bayern Munich may have been tempted to rotate their squad for this one, although injuries may prevent Julian Nagelsmann from making major changes.

Thomas Muller, Bouna Sarr, Lucas Hernandez, Manuel Neuer and Leroy Sane will all miss out, while Matthijs de Ligt is unlikely to be risked either.

Kinglsey Coman and Marcel Sabitzer are pushing for opportunities, while Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is expected to carry on up front.

The Bayern injury situation is likely to once again leave them light in terms of substitutes, although Nagelsmann may decide to call on some youngsters to make up the numbers.

Bayern Munich Starting XI (4-2-3-1): Ulreich; Mazraoui, Upamecano, Pavard, Davies; Sabitzer, Goretzka; Coman, Musiala, Mane; Choupo-Moting
Bench: Schenk, Tel, Stanisic, Gravenberch, Kimmich

Inter team news

Inter will have to do without Dalbert, Marcelo Brozovic and Gabriel Brazao due to injury.

Romelu Lukaku returned in their Serie A win over Sampdoria on Saturday, although he has suffered a fresh injury problem and won’t make the trip to Munich.

Edin Dzeko is likely to deputise, while Hakan Calhanoglu and Alessandro Bastoni could be rested.

Inter Starting XI (3-5-2): Onana; Skriniar, De Vrij, Acerbi; Dumfries, Barella, Asllani, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Dzeko, L Martinez
Bench: Bellanova, D’Ambrosio, Handanovic, Cordaz, Darmian, Correa, Calhanoglu, Bastoni, Gosens

Both teams have already qualified for the knockout stage, so this one will likely simply come down to who is more motivated to find that little bit extra.

Given they have the chance to complete a perfect record in what looked an incredibly tough group, that will unquestionably be Bayern Munich.

Inter, by comparison, probably came into it thinking qualifying at all would be very much a case of job done, and so it’s unlikely they will feel they have anything left to prove at the Allianz.

Prediction: Bayern Munich 2-0 Inter
