'I'm Not That Dumb' - Klopp on Liverpool's Fading Top Four Hopes

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp concedes his side’s chances of making the Premier League top four are in threat after another poor result with Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Leeds United.

The Reds dominated the chances, with 22 shots including 10 on target, but were left frustrated by a remarkable display from Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

The result left Liverpool in ninth with four wins, four draws and four losses this season, already slipping 13 points off the pace of leaders Manchester City.

But the top four and UEFA Champions League qualification is getting increasingly difficult too, especially given their poor form.

“That’s actually not my main worry in the moment because there are a lot of other worries but of course,” Klopp said when asked about the top four.

“I am at least not that dumb that I don’t know distances and I know who is up there, but you cannot qualify for the Champions League if you play as inconsistent as we do in the moment.

“So, how I said, we have to fix that and we will see where we end up. We all know that everything is possible, or a lot of things are possible, but for that you have to win football games and we didn’t do that often enough yet.”

On Liverpool’s struggles to control games, Klopp added: “It’s a mix of everything, of course. It is no secret that pretty much everybody on the pitch can play better football, there is no doubt about that.

“But obviously you have to do the simple stuff right and then you gain confidence, momentum, all these kind of things.”
