BIRMINGHAM, AL – Junior Cat Barry and 5th year senior Jyllissa Harris have been named First Team All-SEC selections, in addition to Shae O’Rourke and Gracie Falla earning spots on the All-Freshman team, as announced by the conference on Sunday.
Barry has been dominant on the pitch this season, recording five goals (four being game winners) and four assists (leads the team). Her 19 career goals places her at the No. 8 spot in program history, and her 10 game winning goals has her at No. 6. Barry has tallied the second-most points on her team this season (14), and leads the Gamecocks and the SEC conference in total shots (74). The First Team conference award (regular season) marks the first in her career.
Harris has placed her own name into the record books as well this year, moving to the No. 1 spot overall for total starts (99 as of 10/27), and the second spot for total games played (101 as of 10/27). Her 101 games places her at No. 5 in the nation. During her career, Jyllissa has tallied 15 goals, 10 assists, and 40 points. Jyllissa is a four-time SEC Preseason Watch List member, four-time TopDrawer Team of the Week Selection, and two-time SEC Defensive Player of the Week. This marks her third First Team honor.
O’Rourke has exploded for the Gamecocks as a rookie this year, leading her team in goals (6) and points (15). O’Rourke tallied the first game of the season for South Carolina (vs. East Carolina) and hasn’t stopped since. She has played in every game this season and was a key factor in the 6-1 win over No. 18 Tennessee. O’Rourke scored the second goal of the game less than five min after coming off the bench in the 28th minute, then did the same in the second half, scoring in the 68th minute after subbing in 10 min prior. For her efforts, O’Rourke was named the United Soccer Coaches Player of the Week. This marks her first SEC conference honor.
Falla has remained a consistent presence for South Carolina, playing in all 18 regular season games, making starts in 17. Falla has played the full 90 minutes in the last 12 consecutive games, and is second-overall for total minutes this season (1500) directly behind Harris. The freshman has been a pivotal piece to the Gamecocks’ 11 shutouts this year, and has tallied five shots and one on goal. This marks her first SEC conference honor.
