Vanderbilt Soccer | Vandy Drops Regular-Season Finale

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt fell 2-0 at No. 21 Tennessee Thursday night at Regal Soccer Stadium in the final contest of the regular season.

The Commodores (11-3-3, 5-3-2 SEC) weathered nine shots by Tennessee (11-4-2, 7-2-1 SEC) in the first half with the score remaining 0-0 at halftime.

Tennessee opened the scoring in the 49th minute off a corner kick to go in front 1-0. The Lady Volunteers took a 2-0 advantage in the 67th on a penalty kick, the first goal off a PK allowed by Vanderbilt this season.

Vanderbilt outshot Tennessee 8-4 in the second half but was unable to find the back of the net.

Vanderbilt will play its first game at the SEC Championship on Tuesday in Pensacola, Florida. The Dores’ will find out their seed and opponent following the rest of the action around the league Thursday evening.
