Men’s Soccer Concludes Nonconference Slate At William & Mary Tuesday

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of North Carolina men’s soccer team wraps up both a four-game road stretch and its nonconference schedule with a trip to Williamsburg, Va., on Tuesday evening to play William & Mary at 6 p.m. ET at Albert-Daly Field.

The Tar Heels enter the contest with a 6-4-4 (2-2-3) mark on the season, most recently battling Boston College to a 1-1 draw Friday evening in Newton, Mass. Carolina has dropped only two games in its last 10 outings.

Leading Carolina’s offensive effort is Milo Garvanian, whose 12 points on the year is his single-season career high. He ranks first on the roster in goals (4), assists (4), points (12) and shots on goal (10). Seven additional players have found the back of the net this season, including Akeim Clarke with three goals and a team-high 27 shots.

UNC has continued to lock down on defense throughout the 2022 campaign, keeping their competitors to six shots or fewer in seven of their 14 contests and 10 or fewer in all but one. A staple on the Tar Heels’ stalwart back line is Til Zinnhardt, one of only two outfield players in the ACC who has logged a full 90 minutes in all contests played so far.

Having lost its last three contests, William & Mary boasts a 4-5-6 (2-3-3) record on the year. Alexander Levengood, who was tabbed to the United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region Third Team a season ago, sits atop the Tribe’s lineup with five goals, eight assists, 18 points, 31 shots and 22 shots on goal.

Tuesday’s tilt will be the 20th match played between the two teams in program history with the Tar Heels looking to extend their all-time streak which falls in their favor at 15-2-2, including a 6-1 ledger for games on the road. The last meeting was a dominant 6-1 Carolina victory on Aug. 31, 2018, in Williamsburg, Va.
