Championship Appearances

With the win, Thorns FC are the first team in league history to qualify for four NWSL Championship games (2013, 2017, 2018, 2022). Portland has advanced to the final more than any team in league history. This will mark Thorns FC’s first appearance in the NWSL Championship game since 2018 when the team played in the final at Providence Park. Portland’s other two trips to the NWSL Championship were on the road (2013, 2017), both of which they won.

Home Semifinals

Today’s match marked the fifth time (2016, 2017, 2018, 2021, 2022) Portland has played host to a home NWSL semifinal match. Thorns FC have won three of their last four home semifinal playoff games, advancing to the NWSL Championship in 2017 and 2018 after earning victories at Providence Park. In five NWSL semifinals at Providence Park, Portland has scored multiple goals in four of those matches (2016, 2017, 2018, 2022).
