Arsenal made it four wins from four at the start of the new WSL season by making relatively light work of Liverpool at Prenton Park on Sunday.
It was also a 12th consecutive WSL win for the Gunners as they continued their exceptional form from the end of last season, equalling the league record, and a ninth straight WSL clean sheet for Manuela Zinsberger to extend her own mark set a week earlier.
Lia Walti scored a splendid opener only 15 minutes into the contest, while Frida Maanum doubled the advantage not long after and that was how it stayed.
Arsenal boss Jonas Eidevall once again opted to start without superstar Vivianne Miedema, leaving her on the bench in favour of keeping Maanum from the team that battered Lyon in the Champions League in midweek.
Eidevall refused to discuss whether Miedema’s omission has left the player frustrated, telling media, “I can’t speak about how other people would feel. You would have to ask her.”
The coach made use of a number of substitutions in the second half to rest key players.
“We knew this would be a test with Liverpool’s set-pieces and direct style of play,” he added.
“I thought it was a real [show of] strength by the defenders who started the game, and also by Jen Beattie coming in, which shows the importance of having players ready to step in.
“We could substitute some really tired legs here in the second half and I thought that added stability in our performance.”
