COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State is still very much in the mix for a Big Ten regular season title and has a huge final week as the Buckeyes host the top two teams in the standings in Michigan State and Northwestern. The No. 6 Spartans are in town on Thursday with first touch set for 7 p.m. ET on BTN+.

Admission and parking are free for all Ohio State women’s soccer home matches.

  • The Buckeyes are 16-11-0 all-time against Michigan State and have won five of the last six meetings.
  • The Spartans won last year’s meeting 1-0 in East Lansing on Oct. 10. The last meeting in Columbus was a 1-0 Buckeye victory on Sept. 19, 2019. Kayla Fischer had the game-winner in the 77th minute. Fischer also had an assist in the 2018 victory. Emma Sears scored the Buckeye’s lone goal in the match in the spring of 2021.
  • The match against the No. 6 Spartans will be OSU’s fifth match against a ranked team this season and its fourth against a Top 10 team. The last time the Buckeyes faced a team ranked No. 6, it was Penn State on Oct. 2 and the Buckeyes rolled to a 3-0 victory.
  • Ohio State has scored 13 goals in the last two matches. That is the most goals in back-to-back Big Ten games in program history.
  • The Buckeyes are unbeaten in their last seven matches with five wins and a pair of draws. They have outscored their opponents 24-3 during the unbeaten streak.
  • The seven-match unbeaten streak is the longest since the 2012 season when the team had nine wins and two draws in the final 11 games of that season.
  • Michigan State enters the final week atop of the Big Ten table at 12-1-3 overall and 7-0-1 in B1G play. The Spartans are coming off a big 2-1 victory at Northwestern on Sunday. MSU’s lone loss was a 1-0 setback at Arkansas on Sept. 4. The Spartans have given up the fewest goals in the Big Ten.
  • Ohio State has risen to No. 17 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top 25. This is the sixth week this season the Buckeyes have been ranked.
  • Fischer has scored a goal in each of the last five games, including her first career hat trick against Illinois last Sunday. She was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the week for her efforts in the two blowout wins.
