Men’s Soccer Suffers Setback At Elon

Boston College

ELON, N.C. – The University of North Carolina men’s soccer team dropped a 3-0 road decision to Elon at Rudd Field in Elon, N.C., on Tuesday night, falling to 6-4-3 (2-2-2) on the year.

Elon gained control early on, firing off a shot in the fourth minute to force an early save from Andrew Cordes. Despite pressing deep into Phoenix territory to create a few chances which included a shot on target from Benjamin Kabeya, the Tar Heels were unable to convert.

Elon jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute with a strike to the far post from Mason Duval, giving the home team the go-ahead goal heading into the break.

Back-to-back goals from Jack Dolk less than 90 seconds apart in the 81st and 83rd minutes sealed a 3-0 win for the Phoenix, who improve to 9-3-2 (5-1-1) on the season.

Carolina continues its four-game road stretch by trekking north to face Boston College for an Atlantic Coast Conference contest on Friday. The nationally-televised match will begin at 6 p.m. ET in Newton, Mass., at the Newton Soccer Complex.
