‘When did Leicester become Costa del Leicester?’

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers watches his players from the touchline

TalkSPORT pundits took the p*ss out of Brendan Rodgers for suggesting his Leicester City players did well to cope with the heat on Saturday.

The Foxes were held to a 0-0 draw by Crystal Palace at the King Power Stadium with Rodgers’ side stuck on five points from ten Premier League matches.

That leaves Leicester firmly in the bottom three and in danger of being dragged into a relegation fight later in the season.

Leicester fans booed and called for Rodgers to be sacked with some supporters holding up a sign that said it was “time for action”.

Rodgers praised his players despite the defeat with the former Liverpool boss bizarrely pointing out that his players experienced a “hot day” in sunny Leicester.

He said: “You can see the players are running and fighting.

“They ran themselves into the ground today, it was a hot day as well for them, but they pressed the game, they kept fighting.”

The forecast yesterday didn’t exceed 13 degrees in Leicester and talkSPORT pundits Jamie O’Hara and Gabby Agbonlahor found Rodgers’ comments amusing.

O’Hara asked: “Where’s he playing, in Dubai?”

Before Agbonlahor added: “When did Leicester become Costa del Leicester? Come on! It was 16 degrees – that’s not hot!

“That shows when managers are feeling the pressure, when they start talking about the weather. What does he do in August in the first two games of the season when it’s a scorcher?

“The way they played today, I hope it’s snowing the next time Leicester play, because they were that bad to watch today. That’s two hours of my life I’ll never get back.

“It was like watching the last game of the season when there’s nothing to play for, and the players know they’ve got Las Vegas booked with the lads and you don’t want to get injured so you don’t have to come in the next day and get treatment, they’ve got flights to be on tomorrow – that’s what it was like.

“It was an absolute shocker. People have been saying to me Aston Villa have been boring, I’ve said it myself, but today’s game was so much worse.

“I hope they had their suntan lotion on today, all the players for both teams – I’ve just looked at the weather reports and it’s a scorching 13 degrees today, with a 70 per cent chance of rain. They’re sunbathing on the rooftops in Leicester!

“How will they cope? Tomorrow they’re going to be coming in with burns on the back of their necks from the sun today…

“Come on, Brendan, come on!…
