Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has hailed his team’s fighting spirit despite enduring yet another winless display.
The Foxes will end the weekend rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table after claiming only their fifth point of the season.
Speaking after the match, Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers told BT Sport: “I thought the performance was good. We limited a very good Crystal Palace team, with a lot of individual players of real quality, to one chance.
“Apart from that we pressed the game well, in particular in the second half when the pressure on the ball was much better. We got into good areas but failed to make the final pass to get us that goal.
“At this moment we have got to see effort and fight of the players, which was there. The talent is there but we are [near] the bottom of the table, so confidence can be affected.
“It was a good performance, the desire to win the game was there, but it was a clean sheet against a good team.”
Rodgers remains one of the bookies favourites to become the next Premier League manager to lose his job. Despite this, the Northern Irish man believes his team are still giving it their all under his leadership.
He said: “The modern game, if you are not winning, it opens you up to criticism and I accept that. The players are fighting and running and giving everything. I always felt after the summer market we would have to fight our way through the season but the players are doing that and hopefully we will get better results as the season goes on.”
Reflecting on the boos at the end of the game, he told BBC Sport: “We have set standards with two fifths and an eighth, but we were unable to improve in the market, so we have to knuckle down with what we have. I totally respect our supporters, and when you are suffering there will always be that (the booing).
“My dedication is that we stay strong and gradually I hope we can pull away. It is my responsibility and I accept that.”
For Crystal Palace, the result marked their fourth draw of the season. Only Newcastle United have drawn more times than Patrick Vieira’s side.
Speaking after the match, the Eagles boss told BT Sport: “In the first half we had a situation that allowed us to create more and I don’t think we were aggressive enough going forward.
