CHARLOTTE, N.C. – North Carolina FC closed their 2022 USL One season with a 5-1 loss to the Charlotte Independence at American Legion Memorial Stadium Saturday night. The team finishes with 30 points for the season and an eleventh-place finish in the table. Charlotte clinches their third consecutive playoff berth with the win.

Charlotte struck twice in a five-minute span in the first half to take the lead, getting a goal from Christopher Hegardt in the 35th-minute then Gabriel Obertan in the 40th minute. That 2-0 scoreline would go into the dressing room. Out of the half, NCFC showed good fight with a flurry of chances before Oalex Anderson broke through, off a feed from Max Flick, with a well-placed roller into the side netting in the 52nd minute.

Charlotte answered just one minute later; however, and would tack on a pair more to pull away down the stretch.
