MATCH CENTRAL: #16 UT vs. LSU


KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — No. 16 Tennessee will look to extend its winning streak to five on Friday when it hosts LSU in a 7 p.m. ET match that will be streamed on SECN+.

UT (9-3-1, 5-1 SEC) enters the match with some momentum, having logged three straight shutouts. In their most recent outing, the Lady Vols defeated Georgia 2-0 on the road. Senior Claudia Dipasupil and redshirt-junior Jaida Thomas found the net, with fifth-year senior Mackenzie George and sophomore Taylor Huff both earning assists. In goal, senior Lindsey Romig made three saves on the day.

LSU (8-3-3, 3-2-1 SEC) is coming off a 5-0 loss to Alabama at home on Sunday. 

The Lady Vols own a 14-4-4 record all-time against the Tigers and are 8-0-1 when facing LSU in Regal Stadium. The teams last met on Oct. 30, 2018, in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament, when they played to a 1-1 draw through two overtimes. LSU advanced on penalty kicks, 7-6.

UP NEXT: The Lady Vols will travel to Auburn for 7:30 p.m. ET (6:30 p.m. CT) contest on Thursday that will be streamed on SECN+. 

SCOUTING THE TIGERS: LSU went 11-8-1 overall and 4-6 in conference games last season and were picked to finish 10th in the SEC in 2022 as voted on by the league’s coaches.

TOP-10 NUMBERS: UT has scored 38 goals on the year to rank sixth in the country in scoring offense at 2.92. The Lady Vols rank seventh in points per game (8.46) and corner kicks per game (7.54), eighth in total goals, and 10th in total assists (34).

EVERYONE IS DANGEROUS: With the sixth-ranked scoring offense in the country, it’s no surprise that Tennessee has multiple offensive threats. Twelve Lady Vols have carded a goal so far this season, and 15 have tallied an assist.

OFFENSIVELY SPEAKING: The Lady Vols lead the SEC in goals per game (2.92), shots on goal per game (9.00) and corner kicks per game (7.54). They are second in assists per game (2.62), shots per game (18.38), total goals (38), and shot accuracy (.490).

HAPPY TO ASSIST: With her assist against Georgia, Mackenzie George has now logged an assist in four straight matches, tying Taylor Huff to lead the team in assists at six on the season.

CLAUDIA IN CONFERENCEClaudia Dipasupil’s goal against Georgia marks her third of the season, all of which have come in SEC play. She has scored those three goals on just five shots, all of which were on frame, for a shot percentage of .600 and a shot-on-goal percentage of 1.00 in conference games. She ties with
