SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio FC defender Fabien Garcia has been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week, the league announced today.
Garcia assisted on Ignacio Bailone’s goal in the 41st minute on Sunday, tying the match at 1-1 heading into halftime. SAFC went on to win after Santiago Patiño’s goal in the 84th minute.
In addition to the assist, Garcia posted three successful crosses and four chances created. Defensively, the centerback made two tackles and four clearances to go with a blocked shot.
The honor is the fourth time this season Garcia has made the Team of the Week, and the 29th time an SAFC player has cracked the list. The selection also marks the 14th time an SAFC defender has made the list this season.
Garcia and San Antonio FC are at home this weekend for the regular season finale, hosting Orange County SC on Saturday at Toyota Field. Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. tilt are on sale at SanAntonioFC.com or the SAFC app, with the match also broadcast on ESPN+.
