The 100th anniversary of the inaugural FIFA World Cup isn’t too far away.
In 2030, the 24th edition of the iconic tournament will take place, and while there’s still a few years until it kicks off, FIFA are beginning to prepare for it already.

The host nations for the 2030 World Cup have not yet been confirmed and the bidding process is still open.
So far, there have been four confirmed bids or planned bids to host the 2030 World Cup.
The first plans to bid came from South America, with Uruguay and Argentina – the finalists of the first World Cup in 1930 – expressing an interest in 2018. Paraguay and Chile have since joined the proposal which should be made official in the near future. No winning World Cup bid has ever featured more than three nations.
Morocco, having missed out on the 2026 World Cup, are set to bid once more for the 2030 edition. They are currently the only planned bid to feature just one nation.
In Europe, Portugal and Spain have long planned a joint bid for the tournament, and in October 2022, it was announced that Ukraine had signed up for their proposal with the view for one group taking place in the eastern European country.
FIFA has also received a first-ever inter-confederation bid from Egypt, Greece and Saudi Arabia. The latter is expected to lead the tournament if awarded hosting rights. It would be the first time a World Cup would be played across more than one continent.
A bid from the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland was scrapped in 2022 in favour of a bid to host Euro 2028 instead.
It is expected that a host will be selected by FIFA at their congress in 2024, though if bids drop out they could decide before then.
