LOS ANGELES – No. 25 UCLA used a pair of second-half goals to secure a 2-0 win over San Diego State on Friday night at Wallis Annenberg Stadium.
The result marked the fifth shutout of the season for sophomore keeper Nate Crockford, most in the Pac-12 Conference. The Bruins moved to 6-4-1 overall and 2-2-1 in league play with the result.
With the clean sheet, UCLA has now allowed one goal or fewer in a season-high six consecutive contests.
Senior midfielder Jose Sosa and junior left back Tommy Silva were the goal-scorers for the Bruins, both finding the back of the net within a 20-minute span of each other.
Sosa opened the scoring with a 65th minute penalty kick goal, UCLA’s first this season. Junior right back Grayson Doody earned the PK after putting in a left-footed shot from the edge of the box that went off an SDSU defender’s hand.

UCLA continued to apply pressure after Sosa’s opener, threatening to score multiple times before Silva hit the back of the net in the 85th.
