Arsenal told to sign ‘brilliant’ Chelsea star but pundit highlights a potential stumbling block

Arsenal told to sign Kante

Arsenal have been encouraged to sign Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante next summer when his contract at Stamford Bridge expires.

The Frenchman has already enjoyed a phenomenal career. He was part of the Leicester City team that defied all odds to win the Premier League in 2015/16.

That was his debut season in England and his form that term earned him a £32m move to Chelsea.

Kante has continued to shine as a Chelsea player as he lifted the Premier League again in 2016/17.

The Carabao Cup is the only trophy that has evaded Kante during his time at Stamford Bridge. He has won the Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

“So the quicker he’s back for us the better. So that’s where I’ll leave my focus.”

Potter added: “It’s hard to replace someone like NG, he’s a world-class player and any team that loses him will suffer a little bit.

“So it’s up to other players to take the step up and find the solutions. There are a lot of games now and we have limited time on the training pitch.

“But if I look at the options we’ve got, there isn’t a direct replacement so I’ve got to find the right one.”

Kante has been linked with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur of late.

Darren Bent thinks Arsenal should go for the experienced midfielder but Mikel Arteta may feel that he is “too old”:

“I don’t think it would ever happen because for what Arteta’s trying to build, Kante is too old,” Bent told talkSPORT.

“But look at what he can give you, not as a starter, but someone who’s just in and about the squad. Imagine him and Partey… he is fantastic, he’ll go down as one of the absolute greats.

“If Kante is on a free at the end of this season, there…
