Cal Heads To Pacific Northwest

Nate Carrasco and the Bears continue Pac-12 play up north this week.


BERKELEY – The California men’s soccer team heads to the Pacific Northwest this week to take on Oregon State and top-ranked Washington in a pair of Pac-12 Conference contests. Cal (3-3-3, 1-2-0 in the Pac-12) faces the Beavers (4-3-1, 1-1-0 Pac-12) on Thursday at 6 p.m. in Corvallis, Oregon, and plays the Huskies (9-0-1, 2-0-0 Pac-12) on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Seattle.

Cal Drops Big Clasico
Fahmi Ibrahim scored for the second consecutive game, but his goal wasn’t enough as Cal lost to sixth-ranked Stanford, 5-1, on Sept. 29 on the Farm. The teams had a 0-0 tie at halftime, with goalkeeper Collin Travasos making five saves in the first 45 minutes to keep the Bears in the match.
 
Ibrahim scored his team-best fourth goal of the season in the 66th minute to tie the match at 1-1. With the Bears trailing 2-1 in the 75th minute, Cal forward Nonso Adimabua was red carded. Playing up a man, Stanford got three more goals to wrap up its win over Cal.
 
Scouting the Bears

  • Fahmi Ibrahim leads Cal in points (8) as well as goals (4)
  • Sophomore forward Shoei Honda ranks second in goals (3) and points (6)
  • Senior midfielder Juan Martinez – who set up Ibrahim’s goal vs. Saint Mary’s on Sept. 25 – leads the Bears with two assists
  • Redshirt junior goalkeeper Collin Travasos has three shutouts and a 1.34 goals-against average in nine starts
  • Travasos and sophomore defender Kevin Carmichael are tied in minutes played at 805
  • Evan Davila and Wyatt Meyer have family connections to Cal. Taylor Davila, Evan’s brother, patrolled the Bears’ midfield from 2018-19, and now plays professionally for the Los Angeles Galaxy II. Jennifer Thomas, Meyer’s mother, played for the Cal women’s soccer team from 1982-85, and was an assistant coach for the Cal women’s team for 11 seasons.
