September 30, 2022 – Major League Soccer (MLS)New England Revolution News Release

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution (9-12-11; 38 pts.; 11th in East) will host Atlanta United FC (10-12-10; 40 pts.) on Saturday afternoon at Gillette Stadium for a 1:30 p.m. ET kickoff. The club’s annual Día Latino match airs nationally on UniMas and TUDN in Spanish, and in English on Twitter. Brad Feldman and Charlie Davies have the local call on 98.5 The Sports Hub HD2, with Portuguese commentary on 1260 AM Nossa Radio.

Entering the regular season home finale, and with two games remaining overall, New England sits on the outside of the Eastern Conference playoff picture, trailing seventh place Inter Miami CF (42 pts.) by four points. If Inter Miami defeats Toronto FC on Friday night (7:30 p.m.), the result would end the Revolution’s bid for a fourth consecutive postseason berth. If Miami draws or loses on Friday evening, the Revolution head into Saturday afternoon’s battle with Atlanta United needing all six points from their last two games to stay in the playoff hunt. Similarly, Atlanta arrives in Foxborough with their playoff aspirations on the line, as the Five Stripes currently sit two points below the line in ninth place.

Before the international break, the Revolution fell to CF Montreal, 1-0, at home on Sept. 17, stretching the Revolution’s winless run to nine games. However, New England has collected points in 11 of their last 13 games in Foxborough dating back to April 16. The Revolution’s last match saw the return of Colombian winger Dylan Borrero, who saw 27 minutes of action off the bench after missing 11 games with a leg injury. The attack continues to approach full strength as Giacomo Vrioni also ramps up his contributions, having now played in three consecutive matches.

Saturday’s match could see several Revolution players achieve career milestones. Andrew Farrell is on the verge of becoming the club’s first player to make 300 regular season starts, while midfielder Tommy McNamara’s next start will be his 150th in MLS. Carles Gil, who remains the league leader in chances created (108), is due to make his 100th MLS regular season appearance, all with New England. Gil currently leads the club’s Golden Boot race, as he is level with Gustavo Bou on goals with seven apiece and owns the assists tiebreaker with 13, tied for fifth most in MLS.
