COLLEGE PARK, MD. – The University of Maryland women’s soccer team will travel to the midwest to take on No. 23 Wisconsin on Thursday night at 8 pm. The Terps will then return to Ludwig field on Sunday as they host Michigan State at 1 pm. Both games will be streamed on B1G+.

 THIS WEEK’S STORYLINES

series history

  • Wisconsin holds a 0-4-2 overall record with Maryland. Wisconsin and Maryland met in the 2020-21 season as the Terps fell by a score of 2-0 in Madison.    
  • Maryland has a 2-2-3 all-time record with Michigan State. The two teams met in East Lansing last season as the Spartans came away with a 2-0 win.

Looking back to last week

  • Maryland dropped a back and forth contest to Illinois by a score of 3-2. Alyssa Poarch scored in the opening 20 seconds of the game. Mikayla Dayes recorded the second goal of the match for the Terps in the 78th minute.  
  • The Terps took their first B1G road trip of the season to No. 4 Rutgers on Sunday. Maryland dropped a hard fought battle 1-0 after the Scarlet Knights scored a goal in the 88th minute of play.

B1g time matchups

  • After facing No. 4 Rutgers on Sunday, the Terps are facing their second consecutive ranked opponent this week as Wisconsin comes in with a ranking of #23.  
  • Wisconsin will be the fourth ranked opponent Maryland faces this season.  
  • Maryland has surrendered just two goals against ranked opponents so far this season. The Terps have battled head to head with No. 4 Rutgers, No. 17 Georgetown, and No. 24 Wake Forest.

New Terps making an impact early

  • Amanda Schafer, Christa Waterman and Sydney Urban have all played a significant role in the team’s lockdown defense. Maryland has surrendered just seven shots on goal in their previous two matches.
