No. 20 USC Women's Soccer Hits the Road for Oregon State, Oregon

LOS ANGELES – Coming off a big conference-opening win over then-No. 19 Stanford, the No. 20 USC women’s soccer team hits the road to face Oregon State on Thursday and then Oregon on Sunday.

SERIES VS OREGON ST – USC owns a 22-5-2 record in the all-time series since the teams first played in 1993. The Trojans have won the last nine meetings between the teams, including a 2-1 win at home last season. The teams played to a draw in 2012 in Corvallis and USC last lost to the Beavers in 2011 (at home).
 
SERIES VS OREGON – USC owns a 22-3-1 record in the all-time series with the Ducks. The Trojans have won nine straight in the series, last losing in 2012 in Eugene. USC won the meeting between the teams last year, 3-1.
 
LAST WEEK – The Trojans picked up a big time Pac-12 opening win over then-No. 19 Stanford last week, taking down the Cardinal 2-1 at home. Nicole Payne scored twice in the game as USC overcame an early 1-0 deficit.
 
PAYNE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – After her two-goal performance against Stanford, Nicole Payne was named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week, and to both the Top Drawer Soccer and College Soccer News National Teams of the Week. It was just the second brace of Payne’s career. The senior transfer also had a brace while at West Virginia. Payne is tied for the team lead with three goals this season and is third on the squad with six points.

BACK IN THE RANKINGS – The Trojans are back in the Top 25 this week, coming in at No. 20 after taking down Stanford. USC started the season at No. 15 in the preseason rankings, but fell out after a season-opening 3-0 loss at Purdue. Since then, USC is unbeaten at 5-0-1 and has wins over two ranked opponents…
