Cards Aim for Third Straight Win Tuesday Against UNC Greensboro


LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The 25th-ranked University of Louisville men’s soccer team will look to extend its unbeaten streak to four on Tuesday night at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium, squaring off against No. 18 UNC Greensboro. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET and the match will be televised on ACC Network Extra.
 
ABOUT THE CARDINALS
Louisville recorded its second top-10 victory of the season on Friday night, downing No. 8 Pitt 2-1. Aboubacar Camara scored in the fifth minute to get the night started and Konstantinos Georgallides found the game-winner in the 61st minute.
 
The Cardinals scored their quickest opening goal of the season against Pitt, with Aboubacar Camara finding the back of the net just 4:19 into the match. UofL has tallied the first goal of the match in six of eight contests this season, including each of the last five.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Louisville and UNC Greensboro have only met one time previously, with the Spartans defeating the Cardinals at a neutral site in 1993. The Cards are 1-2-1 all-time against teams from the SoCon and will play East Tennessee State next month.
 
CARDINALS REGISTER SECOND TOP-10 VICTORY
Behind goals from Aboubacar Camara and Konstantinos Georgallides, Louisville tallied its second top-10 victory of the season with a 2-1 win over No. 8 Pitt. The Cards also own a 3-1 win over then-No. 10 Saint Louis in the season opener.
 
John Michael Hayden has now led the Cardinals to multiple top-10 victories in two of his first four seasons at the helm, also doing so in 2019. That season, Louisville defeated No. 2 Georgetown and No. 9 Kentucky.
 
Four of Louisville’s eight matches this season have come against teams that were ranked inside the top-10 and still has three more matches on the schedule with teams currently among the top 10.
 
CAMARA CLIMBING THE ALL-TIME GOALS CHART
Junior forward Aboubacar Camara has been one of the country’s best goal scorers throughout his collegiate career.
 
Camara entered the 2022 campaign as the top returning goal scorer from last season among Power Five schools and his 66th minute strike in the season opener against Saint Louis moved him into a tie for 10th all-time in goals at Louisville.
