How it Happened

  • For roughly the first 35 minutes, UAlbany and UMBC played a game of possession.  UMBC had taken the only two shots of the game to that point and had drawn the game’s only corner kick.  The Retrievers finished the half with four shots (two on goal) and three corner kicks, while the Great Danes managed to take two shots and draw one corner kick in the half’s final 10 minutes.
  • Shafique Wilson made a diving save in the 69th minute to preserve the scoreless tie and keep UMBC off the board.  The Retrievers’ Ryan Beacher, one of two UMBC players leading the America East with five goals this season, took an open shot from the top of the box to the top right corner of UAlbany’s goal.  Wilson…
