Bouregy and Temple Score as Men’s Soccer Records First Shutout Victory of the Season

MADISON, Wis. – The Rutgers men’s soccer team (5-1-2) earned its first shutout of the season defeating Wisconsin (3-4-0, 0-2-0) on the road, 2-0, on Friday night. Jason Bouregy and Jackson Temple tallied goals for the Scarlet Knights while freshman goalkeeper Ciaran Dalton totaled three saves in net.  

MD Myers found Bouregy in the 16th minute for the first goal of the match to give RU the 1-nil lead. 

 

Wisconsin was issued a red card in the 23rd minute of play and had to compete a man-down for the rest of regulation.  

Dalton made all of his three saves in net during the first half to help keep the 1-0 edge, which the team carried into halftime.  

Coming out of the locker room, RU continued to attack on offense and generate opportunities. The effort paid off as Temple scored in the 67th minute to extend the team’s lead to 2-0. The goal marked the fifth of the season for the reigning National Player of the Week/ Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week.
