COLUMBUS, Ohio – Xavier Green, a senior from Kapiti Coast, New Zealand, was named the Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week by the league office Tuesday after the Buckeyes (5-0-2) defeated No. 15 Indiana (2-1) and battled to a 3-all draw at No. 14 Akron last week.
Green scored in each game. He put the Buckeyes up 2-1 on the Zips early in the second half on a breakaway score in the 54th minute. He then executed a perfect give-and-go with senior Devyn Etling to put Ohio State up 1-0 at home vs. the Hoosiers Sunday in Columbus.
For the week, he scored twice on six shots, five on goal, and played 175 minutes over the two games.
Ohio State has earned a conference honor in each of the last four weeks. Junior captain Laurence Wootton was the Big Ten’s offensive honoree in the first week of the season. Keeper Keagan McLaughlin was the defensive award winner in week two and shared the same award in week three while freshman Marko Borkovic was the co-offensive player of the week.
The Buckeyes are back in action on the road at 7 p.m. Wednesday against Cleveland State (4-1-1) at Krenzler Field. The game will be streamed live by ESPN+.
