COLUMBUS, Ohio – Non-conference play is in the rear-view and it’s Big Ten Conference play from here on out for Ohio State. The No. 21 ranked Buckeyes will open conference play this Sunday when it travels to face the defending champs Rutgers. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. and the match will be streamed on BTN+.

  • The Buckeyes have won two out of their last three Big Ten openers, beating Michigan State in 2019, tying Michigan in the spring of 2021 and winning at Maryland last season.
  • Ohio State has yet to beat Rutgers as the Scarlet Knights lead the all-time series 9-0-2. That includes a 7-0-2 mark since Rutgers joined the league in 2014.
  • The Buckeyes are 3-0-1 in their last four matches and are coming off a solid week which saw them win at Brown and take down in-state rival Kent State on Senior Night on Sunday.
  • After being ranked No. 22 in the first ranking of the year, the Buckeyes fell out of the rankings in week two before jumping back in last week at No. 22 and this week at No. 21.
  • The Buckeyes are a perfect 4-0-0 on the road this season. This is the first time in program history that the team has won its first four road matches of the year.
  • Rutgers is a perfect 8-0 on the season and have outscored its opponents 27-5. Sam Kroeger has scored five goals in the last four matches and is second in the Big Ten with six goals on the season.
  • The Buckeyes are 3-14 all-time against Top 5 opponents with the last win being a 1-0 victory at No. 5 Florida on Aug. 24, 2018.
  • Junior midfielder Peyton McNamara has scored four goals in the last four games, including both goals in the win over Kent State on Sunday. She is tied with Emma Sears for the team lead with four on the season.
  • Emma Sears has three goals and two assists in the last four matches.
  • Ohio State head coach Lori Walker-Hock is in her 26th season leading the program. She is 276-189-55 as the Buckeyes’ head coach and has won a pair of Big Ten regular season titles.
