COLUMBUS, Ohio – For two teams who have relied on their defense recently, the offenses came out swinging and stole the show. Ohio State and Brown each scored in the first 10 minutes of the match and the scoring chances didn’t stop until the final gun. In the end, No. 22 Ohio State came away with a 3-2 road victory on Thursday night at Stevenson-Pincince Field.

The Buckeyes got goals from Sydney Jones, Emma Sears and Kailyn Dudukovich. Sears also added an assist and now has a team-high 10 points on the season.

Ohio State improves to 4-1-1 on the year while Brown loses for the first time, falling to 4-1-0.

How it Happened

Brown struck right away in the fourth minute as Ava Seelenfreund headed home a shot past the Buckeye defense to put Brown in front early.

The Buckeyes wasted little time in answering back as Peyton McNamara found a streaking Sydney Jones, who had pushed forward from her outside backer position. Jones took the ball into the box and slid a shot past the Brown keeper for her first goal of the season in the 10th minute.

In the 23rd minute, Emma Sears started her big night as she dribbled to the top of the box, got some space, and drove a left-footed shot into the upper corner of the net to put the Buckeyes in front 2-1.

Sears then drove down the right side in the 33rd minute and slipped a pass in front of the net that perfectly found Kailyn Dudukovich who tapped a shot into a wide-open net for her first goal of the season.

Brown cut the lead to one early in the second half as Sheyenne Allen headed a bouncing ball off a free kick into the net. That made it 3-2 Buckeyes in the 53rd minute.

Both keepers would make the score hold the rest of the way as each team had viable chances. Freshman Molly Pritchard made a couple of great saves down the stretch to preserve the win.
