COLUMBUS, Ohio – Undefeated Ohio State (3-0-1) takes on No. 12 and unblemished Butler (3-0-0) at 7 p.m. Friday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

Admission and parking are free for all Ohio State men’s soccer contests.

Ohio State has not allowed a goal in the last 309 minutes of game action. Senior keeper Keagan McLaughlin was named the Big Ten’s Defensive Player of the Week after posting back-to-back shutouts over intrastate foes Bowling Green (1-0) on the road and Wright State (2-0) earlier this week. The transfer from Notre Dame, now in his second season at Ohio State, along with the Buckeye defense has recorded three-consecutive shutouts overall and just one goal on the year.

  • The Buckeyes are off to the best start of a season (3-0-1) since 2010 when the team started 4-0. The 2014 campaign started with three-consecutive ties followed by a pair of victories (2-0-3).
  • The next two opponents are ranked among the Top 15 nationally by the United Soccer Coaches. Butler comes in at No. 12 at 3-0-0. The Buckeyes travel to face No. 9 Akron (4-0-0) Sept. 13.
  • Ohio State has allowed just one goal on the season. That came on the opener vs. South Carolina in a 1-all draw at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The last time the Buckeyes allow just one opponent score over the first four games of the season was in 2010 when Ohio State opened with three shutouts before winning 2-1 vs. Bucknell at the Penn State Classic (9/12/10)
  • Senior Keagan McLaughlin has posted three-consecutive shutouts and has held opponents to just one goal over the first four games of the season. The Notre Dame transfer, has 13-career shutouts and three as a Buckeye.
  • McLaughlin’s efforts last week earned him the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week (9/6/22)
  • Ohio State last recorded three-consecutive shutouts was in 2017 when posted six-consecutive blankings from 9/1/17 to 9/22/17). Ohio State shutout seven of its first eight foes that year.
