Jozak Named Rookie of the Week

BOSTON – University at Albany freshman Emily Jozak has been named America East Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.  She was named alongside Offensive Player Ioanna Papatheodorou from UMass Lowell and Defensive Player Alyssa Clearfield from UMBC.

Jozak, a forward from Wayne, N.J., scored all three Great Dane goals in the team’s first win of the least last week at home against Rider.  Starting with her first goal in the 40th minute, all three of Jozak’s goals came within 10 minutes of game time.

In addition to the personal milestone of her first career goal, Jozak also scored the first goal of 2022 for the Great Danes, who had been shut out in their previous four.  Jozak also recorded just the second hat trick in the program’s Division I era history, and tied all-time leading scorer Mariah Williams’ performance in 2017 against Maine for the single-game program records in goals scored and total points.

UAlbany continues its season on Wednesday against Ivy League opponent Cornell.
