Chelsea ‘withdraw’ €15m bid for Aubameyang; Blues hit with ‘triple transfer blow’

Reported Chelsea target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with Thomas Tuchel

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s proposed move to Chelsea is reportedly on standby after the Premier League club ‘withdrew’ their €15million bid.

Barcelona are open to selling the 33-year-old despite only signing him from Arsenal in January.

He recently emerged as a surprise target for Chelsea, with Thomas Tuchel hoping to bolster his attack before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

Aubameyang worked with Tuchel at Borussia Dortmund and the pair are believed to have a strong relationship.

Manchester United have also been linked with the ex-Gunners captain.

Barcelona are reportedly asking Chelsea to pay €25m for Aubameyang, with the Premier League club unsurprisingly reluctant to do so.

The Gabonese international left Arsenal due to a number of disciplinary issues, joined Barca on a free transfer and is 33 years old, so it is understandable that the Blues have offered no more than €15m.

A loan deal has been discussed, as per The Athletic, but it has been said by Fabrizio Romano that Barca and Chelsea are embroiled in “complicated” negotiations.

This means that a move is currently stalled.

The situation is rather sensitive at the moment after Aubameyang suffered a fractured jaw after robbers broke into his house in the Catalan city.

News of Chelsea stalling on a deal to sign the experienced striker came shortly after a triple update on Blues targets Wilfried Zaha, Anthony Gordon and Arsen Zakharyan.

Gordon has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for several weeks and there have been multiple reports of bids made for the young Evertonian.

From bidding £45m, to being willing to put £60m on the table, to offering Conor Gallagher and Armando Broja in a players-plus-cash deal, this has been a very interesting saga.

Everton boss Frank Lampard has said Chelsea have missed their deadline to sign the player and Standard Sport now say the Londoners are no longer interested in pursuing Gordon.

Speaking after his side’s draw at Leeds United on Tuesday, Lampard said: “He’s too important a player and I think he showed his worth in the last two games.

“And with two days now to go [until the transfer window closes], what good would it do us to do anything with Anthony?

“Clearly, the interest has been there because he’s a top player. And that’s why we’re so keen to keep him.”

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace…
