Wootton Named B1G Offensive POW – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Laurence Wootton, a junior from Stoke-on-Trent, England, was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week by the league office Tuesday after a three-point performance Sunday in Columbus vs. Cal Poly.

Wootton, a two-time first team All-Big Ten selection and the Big Ten freshman of the year in the spring of 2021, scored a goal and added an assist vs. the Mustangs in the final game of the 2022 Wolstein Classic at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

His rebound goal of his own penalty kick ended the scoring vs. Cal Poly. He also assisted on the first goal of the game by freshman Marko Borkovic.

Ohio State (1-0-1) is back in action at 7 p.m. Thursday in the first road game of the year when the Buckeyes travel to take on intrastate foe Bowling Green.
