Kickers Earn Comprehensive 4-0 Win over Charlotte; Bolanos Ties League Record

August 29, 2022 – United Soccer League One (USL1)Richmond Kickers News Release

TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One announced on Monday that Richmond Kickers’ forward Jonathan Bolanos was named the week 22 Player of the Week following his three-goal contributions in the Kickers’ 3-0 win over defending champs, Union Omaha. Additionally, forward Emiliano Terzaghi and Jalen Crisler were named to the team of the week. The trio’s team of the week-worthy performances are presented by Legends Soccer Co.

Bolanos earns his second player of the week nod in 2022 after previously receiving the honor during week 11. The third-year pro is enjoying an exceptional breakout campaign after earning a USL League One June Player of the Month nomination along with six total weekly honors this season.

“To be named player of the week is always an honor,” Bolanos said. “But as I’ve said before, all of this would not be possible without the other guys and coaching staff being on the same page in executing our game plan.

“To me, awards are always a result of team effort and represent how we continue to dictate play and consistently impose our style of play to win games.”

In the second half, Bolanos used his speed again to assist both of Terzaghi’s goals. First, from a free kick, Nil Vinyals played a low-driven ball to the right of the scrum in the box. Bolanos raced past his marker and cut the ball inside at the last second, beating the keeper, and landing right at the feet of Terzaghi who simply passed the ball into the net.

Minutes later, Bolanos found himself in a one-on-one situation in transition. Despite having his legs taken out from under him inside the box, Bolanos quickly collected the ball as the keeper came off his line, and Bolanos cut the ball inside to Terzaghi who was crashing into the box. Unmarked, Terzaghi placed his shot into the net to give the Kickers’ a commanding 3-0 lead.

“First off, I would like to thank the 4,886 fans that came out to the game Saturday night, it was truly an amazing atmosphere,” Bolanos said. “Second, my thoughts and prayers are with Alex Touche, and I wish him a speedy recovery.

“Coming into the game, we knew it was going to be one of the toughest tests of the…
