Alabama’s Riley Mattingly Parker Earns SEC Offensive Player of the Week


BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama soccer’s Riley Mattingly Parker was named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. Parker earned the honor after scoring a brace in the team’s 3-0 upset against No. 18 Clemson, in addition to helping UA secure a 2-0 shutout victory over Southern Miss in the Tide’s home opener.

Parker’s performance includes notching the game-winning goal in the team’s upset win over No. 18 Clemson. That goal was one of two by Parker against the Tigers, as she found the back of the net off a header in both the 12th minute and 80th minute of the game.

  • Scored the game-winning goal against the No. 18 Clemson Tigers off a header in the 12th minute of the game
  • Added a second goal against Clemson, again off a header, in the 80th minute of the game
  • Placed five shots on goal during the week, three against Southern Miss and two against Clemson
  • Leads the team in goals (3), game-winning goals (2) and points (6)
  • Alabama is 1-0 against top-20 opponents this season
  • UA secured its third shutout of the year, holding Florida Atlantic, Southern Miss and Clemson without a goal
