Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the subject of interest from Man Utd with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano providing the latest update on the Barcelona striker.

The Gabon international left Arsenal at the end of the last January transfer window with the Premier League agreeing to terminate his contract.

Aubameyang moved on a free transfer to Barcelona immediately after being forced to train by himself under Mikel Arteta following a number of disciplinary issues.

He scored 92 goals in 163 matches in all competitions for the Gunners and his good record continued at Barca in the second half of last campaign, bagging 13 in 24 appearances.

But he could now be heading back to the Premier League before Thursday’s transfer deadline with Chelsea and Man Utd both interested in the striker.

Man Utd are in the market for a striker before the end of the window with wantaway Cristiano Ronaldo and injury-prone Anthony Martial their only main striking options.

A report from Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio claimed yesterday that Man Utd have made a ‘fresh approach’ for Aubameyang with the Red Devils viewing him as a cheaper option than Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

But Romano now claims that Aubameyang has already agreed personal terms with Chelsea ahead of a potential move with the Blues able to offer Champions League football, which is off the table at Man Utd.

Chelsea are yet to agree a fee with Barcelona, though, with the Catalan giants said to be holding out for as much as €30m for the 33-year-old.

And former Premier League striker Darren Bent reckons Aubameyang would be a brilliant signing for Chelsea before the transfer deadline.

Bent told talkSPORT: “It would be a good addition to the squad. One thing we know about Aubameyang is that when he goes to a new football club he hits the ground running.

“At Barcelona he’s got 11 goals in 17 league appearances. At Arsenal he got ten in his first 14 appearances. Incredible. He is someone who knows where the back of the net is. His goalscoring records are fantastic.

“Chelsea need someone who’s going to stick the ball in the back of the net, that was supposed to be Romelu Lukaku last season… Mason Mount was Chelsea’s top scorer with 11, then Havertz with eight, then Lukaku with eight.
